Purchasing Supplies for the Hospital from Zakat
Is it permissible to purchase supplies for the Hussein Cancer Center, such as medical devices and wheelchairs, from zakat funds, or is it not considered one of the categories of zakat?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If it is owned by poor patients, it is permissible; and if it remains the property of the hospital, it is not permissible; because the condition for zakat is the ownership of a poor person, and that does not exist. And God knows best.
