Question
Do the Hanafis allow in this corrupt time, where distractions are abundant, for the follower to stand behind his Imam without reciting Al-Fatiha or a short surah, even though the majority lack humility, which is what followers of other schools criticize the Hanafis for?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Reciting Al-Fatiha and the surah is not the reason for humility; rather, it comes from sincerity to God Almighty and training oneself to be humble. The fault lies with those who criticize; for a ruling in a jurisprudential school issued by an absolute jurist has countless proofs regarding the matter, and God knows best.
