Question
Does a husband have the right to prevent his wife's brother from entering his wife's house if they are in conflict, and is it permissible for the wife to leave her husband because of this action?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's help: It is permissible for a husband to prevent his wife from visiting anyone other than her parents and mahrams, according to what is customary. The husband does not have the right to prevent his wife from communicating with her brother, as this would sever family ties, which is not permissible in Sharia. It is necessary for people of virtue to intervene to resolve the dispute. It is not right for a woman to leave her husband because of this, as the matter requires wisdom. And Allah knows best.
