Payment of Allowance for the Poor
A person who deserves zakat works as a taxi driver. If he is given zakat, he will not spend it on his household; he will use it as a guarantee for the car. Is it permissible to pay bills on his behalf or give the money to his wife?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: The original principle of zakat is ownership, and whoever owns it becomes free to dispose of it. It is permissible to pay bills on his behalf, but with his permission. And God knows best.
