Paying Zakat on a Creditor's Debt
What is the method for calculating zakat on several past years for a debt I have on someone, and I will collect this debt after a specified period? The value of the debt is five thousand dinars.
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Zakat must be paid for the past years when taking a loan if you hope to recover it, and it is calculated at 2.5% of the amount for each year, and God knows best.
