Paying Zakat Funds for the Reconstruction of Houses in Jerusalem
Is it permissible to pay zakat funds for the reconstruction of Jerusalem (restoration of old houses in Jerusalem) to an entity responsible for this project?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not permissible to give zakat money to anyone other than the poor. If it is given to a poor person to repair their house, it is permissible; otherwise, it is not. And God knows best.
