Paying Zakat al-Mal for a Poor Son
A financially capable man is obligated to pay Zakat on his wealth, and he has a married son who is unable to support his family in the current situation. Is it permissible for the father to give his Zakat to this son? If it is not permissible, what is the ruling on giving him money, and what is required of him?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: Do not give zakat to a poor son, but it can be given to his wife. The father can help his son from his own private money that is not designated for zakat, and God knows best.
