Paying Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of dependents
If a mother has young children who do not work, is it permissible for her to pay Zakat al-Fitr on their behalf?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The Zakat al-Fitr is not obligatory for the poor who do not possess an amount of (100) grams of gold. If the children are in the same situation, Zakat al-Fitr is not obligatory for them either. And God knows best.
