Paying Zakat al-Fitr Instead of Paying Off Debt
A woman has a debt of about one thousand five hundred dinars for house rent. Is it permissible to give Zakat al-Fitr to the landlord to pay off some of the debt?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to pay it to the homeowner after obtaining permission from the tenant, and it is sufficient; otherwise, it is not. And God knows best.
