Paying the Expiation for Intercourse for the Deceased

Question
An elderly lady recently learned that there is an expiation for those who have had intercourse during the day in Ramadan. She and her husband committed this act over 40 years ago, and he has now passed away. She wants to pay the expiation for herself and her husband. What is the amount of the expiation, and is it permissible to give it in kind instead of money? Does she need to do anything else besides the expiation?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The expiation for sexual intercourse is to fast for two consecutive months initially; if you cannot, then you should feed sixty needy people. As for your deceased husband, it is recommended that you feed sixty needy people on his behalf, and you can give each needy person two dinars. And God knows best.
