Paying Off the Deceased's Debts from Insurance Entitlements
I received an amount of money as a distribution of my deceased husband's estate from his entitlements with the insurance. If I use this money to pay off his debts, would this be considered unfair to myself, knowing that the children have their own amounts?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: debts take precedence over inheritance, and it is required of you all to pay off his debts from insurance and other sources before taking the money as inheritance. And God knows best.
