Paying Money Instead of Making Up Fasting
What is the ruling on someone who pays money instead of making up the fast of Ramadan on the grounds that she cannot make it up because she gets tired and has headaches, knowing that she is neither elderly nor suffering from any illnesses?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: She must make up for the days she missed fasting if she is able to fast, and mere fatigue while being able is not an acceptable excuse. However, if she is unable, she must pay a ransom for each day, which is feeding a poor person, and it is estimated at two dinars. And God knows best.
