Participation in Free Religious Competitions
There is something spreading on Facebook that resembles advertisements; numbers are provided, and participants are asked to choose one of them, then a verse corresponding to that number appears, claiming it is God's message to you for that day. What is the ruling on participating in these competitions?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: This form initially involves frivolity, play, chance, and deception. All the verses of the Quran were sent to us by God, and we can read our daily portion and take from it our lessons and reminders without this nonsense. And God knows best.
