Orthodontics for Menstruating Women

Question
What is the ruling on placing braces for a woman while she is menstruating? According to our principles, it is not permissible based on the assumption of rinsing during purification in our view. However, we allow it in cases of necessity according to the Shafi'i school. But there may not be a necessity; rather, there may be hardship in delaying or in scheduling a new appointment. Do we permit it in this case?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to use the calendar for menstruating women and others without any hesitation at all, as it is no different from placing a tooth in the mouth, and our scholars have not denied it since ancient times. Likewise, it is considered a form of treatment, so it is no different from a splint. Due to the existence of need and necessity, it is excused, and God knows best.
