Question
I have money exceeding the nisab, but I do not actually invest or grow it. Do I have to pay zakat on it?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: You must pay its zakat if a year has passed over it, and the same ruling applies to all that you own of gold and silver, even if you have not actually invested or grown it; because money, gold, and silver are inherently growing. The failure to grow them by their owner is a shortcoming on their part, so they cannot be excused from paying zakat on them. And God knows best.
