Question
I went for Hajj and had taken a contraceptive injection before Ramadan so that I could benefit from fasting the entire month and have my Hajj without any excuse. However, I saw blood for two non-consecutive days in Ramadan, so I broke my fast but prayed the obligatory prayers and Taraweeh after performing Ghusl. During Hajj, I see blood every few days, perform Ghusl, and go out to perform Tawaf. However, this has frightened me very much, as I am worried that I may have sinned or violated something. What is the ruling?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If you saw blood for two days within ten days, then all these days are considered menstruation, and your fasting and prayers during them are not valid, and you are sinful for your prayers. If you saw blood on scattered days within ten days, then you are considered menstruating, and you have sinned by performing the circumambulation, and you are liable for a penalty depending on the type of circumambulation. And God knows best.
