Marriage to a Transgender Man
A Muslim woman married a Muslim man, and after having children two years later, she discovered that the man she married is a transgender woman. What is the ruling on the children and the marriage?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Gender transition is forbidden, and its doer is treated as a hermaphrodite, being considered a female among males and a male among females. Thus, marriage to them is not permissible, and separation between them is required. The lineage of the child is valid if that is the case, and God knows best.
