Marriage of the Hashemites
I am from the Hashemite family of the Prophet's household, and we in Yemen have a custom that Hashemites do not marry except to another Hashemite. Is there any basis for this custom?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: This is from the perspective of competence in marriage, but if the girl and her guardian agree to something else, it is permissible. However, if it is like the norm that harms women by preventing them from finding husbands, it must be abandoned and refrained from; to lift the injustice from women, and God knows best.
