Question
If someone has missed fasting during Ramadan and has not made it up, and then goes for Hajj, does the Hajj compensate for the missed fasting? If not, and they are currently unable to make it up due to illness, what is the ruling on the days they missed?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: What is established as a fasting obligation does not fall away except by actually fulfilling it; it does not fall away by performing Hajj or other acts, because it is an obligation owed to God Almighty. If one is unable to fast, he must pay the compensation for each day, which is half a sa' (a measure), equivalent to about two dinars. And God knows best.
