Liability for Damage and Destruction

Question
A man placed his cell phone on the ground in a gym, and a weight fell from another person's hand onto the phone, breaking it. Does the owner of the phone receive compensation, or is the other person responsible for repairing the phone for him?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If the other person has acted wrongfully, they are liable for the value of the phone; either by repairing it or providing a similar one. If they have not acted wrongfully, and their action was customary, and the negligence was from the phone owner who placed the phone in an unsuitable location leading to its breakage, then the other person is not liable for anything. And God knows best.
