Question
What is better for someone who is fasting Nafl and goes to visit? Should she remain fasting or break her fast if they ask her to break it? And should those she is visiting ask her to break her fast in order to honor the guest, or should they let her remain fasting?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is better for someone who goes to visit others to break their fast in voluntary fasting if fasting causes discomfort to those they are visiting, such that they feel awkward and cannot honor them. However, if fasting does not harm them, does not hurt them, and does not cause them any embarrassment, then it is possible not to break the fast. And God knows best.
