Interruption of Bleeding and Yellow Discharge During the Postpartum Period
A woman in the postpartum period, after 29 days, had her bleeding stop for 5 days, then she experienced yellow discharge. She performed ghusl (ritual washing) and prayed. What is the ruling on her prayer, and is she considered pure or still in the state of postpartum bleeding?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The duration of postpartum bleeding is forty days, and everything that the postpartum woman sees before the forty days in terms of blood colors is considered postpartum bleeding, so she is not required to pray, and God knows best.
