I say, and with God's success: The condition for the obligation of its performance is the passing of a year on the original nisab. As for what is acquired during the year, it is added to its kind and is subject to zakat at the completion of the original year, whether it is acquired through trade, inheritance, or otherwise. Therefore, you owe zakat on the purchased gold, and God knows best.
