Question
I have a righteous friend who walks with the righteous and strives greatly in his worship, and he attends the gatherings of mentors and the righteous. However, he complains to me that he has been struggling with the desire for pornography since school days. Whenever he distances himself and engages in worship or work, there comes a day when the desire takes complete control over him, and he watches pornographic films. What is your advice for him?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: He must continue on the path of righteousness, and increase his closeness and worship to God more and more until he gains control over himself. He should also reflect on his pure nature; for it is something that noble souls find repugnant. He must understand that someone like him is deprived of the good pleasure with those whom God has made lawful and that it diminishes his enjoyment with them, which is harmful to him. And God knows best.
