Question
A man passed away and left one thousand dinars for his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all of whom are over the age of eighteen. How should it be divided among them, and should the rent of the house and the costs of repairing the house be deducted from their shares, as the division according to Sharia is for a male to receive the share of two females?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The money is divided for the wife as a share, and for the children, the male receives the same as the share of two females. The rent of the house is deducted if it was a debt during his lifetime; otherwise, nothing is deducted. Likewise, repairs are not deducted. And God knows best.
