Question
A lady passed away and owned a quantity of gold gifted by her husband. How should the shares be divided among her husband, her three children, and her mother, knowing that her mother does not want to take anything? Is there any zakat due on it? Should it be kept until the children grow up, or should it be invested for them?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: It is divided among them as an inheritance. The funds of the minors should have a guardian who can either invest them or keep them safe, and Allah knows best.
