Question
What is the ruling on cutting hair so that one side is long and the other side is shaved, or does it depend on the intention of the young man?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Cutting hair is related to manliness, so any haircut that contradicts manliness is disliked, and its dislike increases in proportion to how much it contradicts common custom until it reaches the point of sin. This is unless the act resembles that of non-Muslims; if it does resemble them, then he is sinful for this resemblance. And God knows best.
