I say, and with God's help: It is permissible to give zakat to the stepmother even if the father is alive; because she is not one of his ancestors or descendants. It is not permissible to give zakat to the son; because he is one of his ancestors, and thus full ownership is not achieved. It is permissible to give it to the son's wife, and God knows best.
