Giving Charity to a Sister
What is the ruling on a sister giving charity during Ramadan to her widowed sister who has orphans, and does the principle of 'the closest are first in doing good' apply to her?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Charity is permissible for both the near and the far, and its reward for the near is greater due to the connection involved. As for if it is intended as zakat, zakat is also permissible for brothers and sisters, and God knows best.
