Gifts to Males Over Females in Life

Question
What is the ruling on a father giving half of the inheritance to his male children during his lifetime and dividing the rest of the inheritance among the siblings after his death, both males and females?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The principle is that his property is owned by him, and he is allowed to dispose of it as he wishes. However, he must consider the rights of his heirs and not wrong any of them, so as not to increase hatred and resentment among them over money. He should not increase gifts to anyone except for a clear reason, and God knows best.
