Following the Muezzin
According to the Hanafi school, it is permissible to pray behind someone sitting as a matter of preference. Does this apply to someone who prays on a chair, bowing but not prostrating on the ground?

I say, and with God's success: The one praying on a chair without prostration is considered a bowing one, not a sitting one, so the prayer behind him is only valid for someone like him who is bowing, and the prayer of the standing one behind him is invalid, and God knows best.
