Question
What is the ruling on excessive finger movement during Tashahhud in all schools of thought?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to point with the finger in some opinions of the Hanafi school, which is the well-known view among the Shafi'i and Maliki schools. Moving the finger is disliked according to the relied-upon opinions of the four schools; because it is based on the narration of Zaidah, which is an odd narration in which the trustworthy narrator contradicted eleven narrators who said to point without moving the finger. And God knows best.
