I say, and with God's success: The expiation must be paid for him, which is two dinars for each day, and this is if his mental state is not continuously impaired, but rather comes and goes. If it is continuous, then there is no expiation on him; because he is no longer accountable, and he is considered among the insane. And God knows best.
