Fasting in Extreme Heat

Question
What is the ruling on fasting in extreme heat?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Intense heat is not an excuse to break the fast at the beginning of Ramadan. It is permissible to break the fast if one fears for their life due to fasting. Outside of Ramadan, a Muslim has the choice to fast in intense heat unless the heat causes them harm, in which case fasting is disliked due to the harm it causes them. And God knows best.
