Fasting for Those Who Break Their Fast Due to Travel

Question
My husband and I performed Umrah and returned from Mecca to Medina after Fajr, and we broke our fast during the return. When we arrived home, we had marital relations. Do we have to make expiation for that? Knowing that I do not know the ruling on this because I thought we were not fasting and would not be sinful for this?
Answer

I say, and with God's help: Your travel to perform Umrah permits you to break your fast in Mecca and Medina if your stay in either of them is not fifteen days. The one who breaks their fast is permitted to eat and have marital relations, and God knows best.
