Exchange of Fitr Charity Between Two Poor Families
The first family gives Fitr charity to the second family, and then the second family gives Fitr charity to the first family. Is this permissible?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The Zakat al-Fitr is only obligatory for the wealthy, who are those who possess the Nisab of Zakat, which is 100 grams of gold. Those in this situation are not allowed to take Zakat. It appears that the two families are not obligated to give Zakat due to their poverty. And God knows best.
