Equality between Male and Female in Inheritance
My father passed away and left agricultural land with a title deed, and we are three daughters and two brothers. My question is that my brothers want to divide it two shares for the men and one share for the girls, while we, the girls, want it to be divided equally since agricultural land is divided equally by law. What is the ruling?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: It is not permissible for you to take equally in agriculture and others; because the Sharia has made for the male the share of two females, and the law does not permit you to take what belongs to others, and you must adhere to the Sharia, and God knows best.
