Question
People are accustomed in houses of mourning to distribute parts of the Holy Quran to a number of individuals to perform a collective recitation. Is this recitation valid, or is it an innovation that does not count as a complete recitation?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Innovations are usually in beliefs and not in actions, and this is one of the actions, and there is great good in it; because it involves spreading goodness and virtue, reading the Quran, refraining from backbiting and gossip, and promoting love and selflessness. And God knows best.
