Distributing Fitr Charity Items
Is it permissible to distribute food such as lentils or rice from home as part of the Fitr charity? Which foods are allowed and which are not? What is the amount?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Everything that has value can be given as Zakat al-Fitr, such as lentils, rice, clothing, or anything of value. The value of Zakat al-Fitr is two dirhams, and God knows best.
