Question
Zakat funds have reached a person to be given to the poor as an agent. Is it permissible to use part of it to buy necessities and food for a poor person, knowing for certain that this poor person needs them, and if he knows for certain that it will be wasted if given to him in cash?
Answer
I say, and with God's success, it is permissible to pay zakat in cash, goods, and food, and it is preferable to give it to them in what he sees as more appropriate, and God knows best.
