Question
I vowed to a specific person that I would perform Umrah on behalf of his deceased mother, but circumstances prevented me from going for Umrah. I then delegated a committee in Saudi Arabia to hire someone for a fee to perform this Umrah on my behalf. In this case, has the vow been lifted from me, or does it still remain in my responsibility?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If she is unable to perform the Umrah, she can appoint someone or an organization to perform it on her behalf, and the vow is lifted from her. God knows best.
