Question
I will recite Surah Al-Fatiha 314 times for the soul of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the souls of the martyrs of Badr. Is this considered an innovation?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The mention of specific remembrances in a certain number is frequent in the Sunnah, so there is no prohibition against reciting a Surah a specific number of times, and supplicating for relief from God Almighty. And God knows best.
