Decorating Homes with Birds
What is the legal ruling on keeping a bird in a cage? Is the issue of buying and raising birds in homes comparable to raising pigeons? Is it permissible to spend large amounts of money on buying them?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to raise birds in homes as long as it does not involve torturing them, and it is allowed to purchase them at their rightful price even if the cost is high. However, it is preferable to spend such money on the poor. And God knows best.
