I say, and with God's success: If what is meant by the khimar is that which covers the face, then covering it is not obligatory in itself; because it is not an 'awrah, but rather it is covered to avoid fitnah (temptation). Thus, the meaning of the khimar is realized by avoiding fitnah in the manner it is worn, and God knows best.
