Condition of Sponsoring an Orphan
Is it a requirement for someone who sponsors an orphan to provide both material and emotional support? Because organizations only accept financial sponsorships, does providing only financial support fulfill the meaning of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: 'I and the sponsor of the orphan are like these two in Paradise'?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If it is possible to provide full sponsorship for the orphan while considering all aspects of his life, that is the best. If it is difficult, then providing him with money and securing his material needs is an important part of his sponsorship, and there is much good in it, God willing. And God knows best.
