Comment on the Oath in Dispute

Question
The children argued over who would wear a sweater. My husband got angry and swore that if any of the children wore it and took it off, he would burn it. I do not want it to be burned because they have no other clothes in the cold. If he burns part of it, is that considered fulfilling his oath, or does he have to burn it all?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It depends on his intention; if he intended to burn it completely, he must burn it or pay the expiation for an oath, which is twenty dinars. And God knows best.
