Question
I am a teacher at the ministry in Egypt, and I am forced to take a family leave because my husband is traveling outside Egypt. Unfortunately, the Undersecretary refuses to sign the leave unless I attend in person, which is mentally and financially exhausting for me since I am in Kuwait with my husband and pregnant, and the travel costs are high with three children, the oldest being 7 years old. Of course, the ministry does not know that I am in Kuwait. If I have my brother's wife go in my place to meet the Undersecretary as if she were me, especially since we are both veiled, would I be sinning?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If she can do that in a way that implies something without the need to lie, it is permissible, and God knows best.
