Question
My mother has passed away and I want to give charity on her behalf, but I do not have money. What should I give in charity?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Giving charity on behalf of the deceased is according to one's ability and is not limited to money. Even if you give charity by putting leftover food for the birds, or by splitting a date, or by dedicating the reward of a supplication or Quran for her, all of it is good and will benefit her, God willing. And God knows best.
