Changing the Name

Question
My brother is a young man studying and working in America, and there are pressures on Muslims regarding transferring money to Arab countries for fear of supporting terrorist organizations; therefore, anyone named Muhammad or Abdullah, which are 'Islamic names', or who transfers money to an Islamic bank, is harassed, and they may prevent him from sending money. So my brother changed his name from Muhammad to Michael (he changed his name in official documents, but his name among us remains Muhammad), and he sends money to a non-Islamic bank. Is what he did forbidden?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If the name change is for the reason mentioned, we ask God Almighty that there is no sin upon him, and God knows best.
