Changes in Menstrual Days After IUD Insertion

Question
A woman has had an IUD for about a year and a half, and her menstrual days have changed to between nine days, twelve days, or two weeks. The doctor has advised her against taking medication to regulate her cycle because it has negative effects, noting that her cycle used to be seven days. How can she determine her purity for fasting, and if she becomes pure and then has light brown discharge, does it affect her fasting?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If her menstrual bleeding continues for more than ten days, the amount beyond that is considered a different valid period for her menstruation, and the remainder is considered irregular bleeding. This is if the interval is fifteen days. If her last menstruation lasted six days, and she now sees bleeding for eleven days, she considers six days as menstruation and five days as irregular bleeding. Any color she sees is considered menstruation unless the doctor informs her that it is not menstruation. And God knows best.
